Dirsync with child domains

This question is answered This question is answered

We have a top level forest with many sub domains.  In some cases we are adding new child domains and in some cases we are removing child domains.  If we remove a child domian how do we get dirsync to remove the domain the dirsync tool tool and remove all the objects related to that domain from office 365?

On the flip side how do we get dirsync to pick up a new child domain.  I assume by running the installation wizard again?

Jim

  • Well, in this case it is very easy.  If the objects are deleted on-premises, they will be deleted in O365.  If new objects are created, it will add them.  If you have concerns about the delta syncs not picking up the proxy address changes, you can always force a FULL sync.  This will perform all the same functions as your initial sync other than performing the 'soft match' to existing users (since the users are already marked with the on-premises GUID).
