Passwords and Forums

This question has suggested answer(s) This question has suggested answer(s)

1) First, has anyone noticed that now when you click on forums under help you are taken to http://outlookliveanswers.com/forums/ instead of  http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums? Then it wants you to log in with live id credentials? This is supposed to be Office 365 support, right?

2) Today when I went to log into my email the system forced me to change my password. I do not want MS dictating when I change my password. How do I change the settings so none of my users have to reset their passwords after x amount of days?

  • Hi xenia,

To set password never expire for all user in your organization, please perform following PowerShell cmdlet:

    import-module MSOnline
    get-module MSOnline
    Connect-MsolService
    Get-MsolUser | Set-MsolUser -PasswordNeverExpires $true

For more information regarding password never expire please refer to Configure user passwords to never expire.

To install PowerShell for Microsoft Online service please refers to Use Windows PowerShell to manage Office 365.

For your first question, I am still working on it and will get back to you with updated information as soon as possible.

    Thanks,
    Kent Gu

  • I don't even know how to use this Windows PowerShell. I thought the point of a small business cloud based solution was to make this self manageable? We don't have an IT department to do this kind of work. Why can't MS add an option in the Administrative panel to make these kind of changes instead of making non IT people try to become programmers? Administration of this solution is often very cumbersome and not intuitive (:

  • Hi xenia,

Currently the only channel to configure password policy is PowerShell cmdlet. However If need a GUI based channel to configure it, I’d like to suggest you submitting a feedback. Your useful ideas and feedback will help us improve our products and service. Your time and efforts are highly appreciated. If the service is requested frequently, the product team may include it in the future releases.

For using Windows PowerShell to manage Office 365 please refer to http://onlinehelp.microsoft.com/en-us/office365-enterprises/hh124998.aspx

I’ve done a little bit more research on your first question. The URL in the OWA is a forum which is dedicated for the Outlook Web App. It is a platform that user can find help or post question which is related to Outlook Web App. And it is not for Exchange Online only, but also for on-premise Exchange.

If the user has any questions related to Office 365, they can post question in Office 365 Forum from Microsoft Online Portal. But if the question is quiet more related to Outlook Web App, they can look for some help from this forum.

    Thanks,
    Kent Gu

  • How do I submit feedback/ I feel like too many administrative options are missing from the GUI. Also the link that I'm being sent to is Live, not Office 365
