Before the upgrade to Office 365, each user has one Live@edu account that provides access to services such as email powered by Exchange Online, SkyDrive and Messenger.
During the upgrade, each Live@edu account becomes two separate accounts:

Here’s what Outlook Web App will look like in Office 365. All the user's Live@edu email will be available from this page.
While the Office 365 account and personal Microsoft account can both be accessed with the same Live@edu user name and password after the upgrade, the accounts are not associated with one another and changes to one account will not affect the other.
