Cannot schedule Lync Online meetings

Cannot schedule Lync Online meetings

Original Question: Cannot schedule Lync Online meetings by Marty Parker

Newly set up and cannot figure out how to set up a (future) scheduled meeting.  Seems must use the Lync toolbar in Outlook (I'm on 2007, business associate is on 2010), but we both get the error message: "Unable to indentify the calendar owner. Contact your support team."

We are not in an enterprise, so (a) don't have a support staff and (b) don't have and Exchange account (connected to O 365 mail via POP).  We want to use Lync with Office 365 for meetings, but MeetNow is not sufficient for inviting others in advance.

Help, please.  Thanks.

Hi Marty,

The issue may occur if the Online Meeting Add-in for Lync 2010 cannot determine the SMTP or SIP address of the Outlook account.

I noticed that you are using POP to connect with your Office 365 Exchange account rather than having Outlook setup to directly communicate with the exchange server. I can confirm that when you setup your Office365 as an Exchange account in Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2007, the Lync add-in works perfectly to schedule meetings. I have successfully done it several times. Try specifying your account as 'Exchange' rather than POP and see if that fixes issue. If the issue persists, please reinstall Lync Add-in and restart Outlook to test the issue.  When properly configured, you should be able to schedule meetings from Outlook 2007.

You can schedule a Microsoft Lync 2010 meeting or conference call by using the Online Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Lync™ 2010. For the information about Scheduling and join an online meeting, please refer the article below:

Question: Re: Cannot schedule Lync Online meetings by Marty Parker

Hi, Monica,

Yes, that was very helpful and worked.  Set up my Office 365 account as my "Inbox" in Outlook and placed all my other POP accounts in "Personal Folders\Inbox".  Looks like my POP accounts are working fine in that set up.

Did not do the Exchange set up the first time since I could not find the "Mail" icon in the Control panel on my Vista 64 system.  Need to select "View 32-Bit Control Panel Items" in Classic View to get to that icon.   Also, had to try twice to get the server connection to validate, but works now.

Can now successfully schedule on-line meetings from Outlook!  Thanks!
