Federation server proxy is a computer that runs AD FS 2.0 software and has been configured manually to act in the proxy role. It just provides intermediary services between an Internet client and a federation server. You can configure an AD FS 2.0 proxy for the on-premises AD FS environment, or configure a firewall reverse proxy of the AD FS 2.0 Federation Service to support the Identity Federation as well.
thanks for the reply, do i must use federation server proxies or i can use public IP address on the firewall and NAT the traffic to the NLB address ?and if im using Direct access do i still need that?
