Yesterday I was updating some documents. The documents were checked out and I could edit them. I was logged on with my admin account. After a while I ran into this issue that when I was checking out the document it was locked by myself and it was opened in a read-only mode. I was forced to down load the document to my computer and upload it after I have done the necessary changes. Today when I have logged on both with my admin and regular account even if I check out the documents it gets locked by me and the document is open in a read-only mode. I have tested this on both Office 2013 and Office 2010.

Office 365 REST Reporting Web service for sharepoint ?

Hello,

Here is my post of background from other related question. I posted in that topic as the issues are very similar and I wanted to note the support and users that the issue was not necessarily caused by authentication or local licensing.

Here is the content of that post. I believe it to be a good summary of this issue.

I have been on with support on this issue for almost two weeks. It seems that we get all of the same suggestions but none are addressing the real issue. We cannot activate Office or use it under any circumstances without many issues.

No one at Microsoft knows the product well enough to provide an answer. I have been given copies of much of this post by internal tech support. It appears they are just searching the forum and repeating verbatim what is posted here.

It appears that the switch to Office 2013 Pro on Office 365 has not been debugged carefully enough. There have also been service outages that create other issues.

In my case I have applied al suggested fixes numerous times. I have finally been able to force a download and install of the Office(365) 2013 Pro product. I can run all applications locally and I can authenticate on Skydrive and open and edit files. The product says it wants to be activated (Red bar) but activation always fails.

The issue is not authentication or product operation. The message is one that is associated with activation only. It does not occur if we have the O2013product installed as a full package. I have machines in and out of a domain that can use Office 2013 and even Office 2007 although only 2013 will launch from the web links (“Edit in Excel”)

Unfortunately I have only one Windows 7 machine to dedicate to this as all others are installed with 2013 full product.

The big issue here is that I have a client that needs to be moved to Office 365 by I need the owners approval to move the SBS2003 system and user. The client has a very busy retail business and has already spent too much time waiting for the presentation on O365 and some time to familiarize the key people with the product. This has been an extra two week delay for simple product activation. It cannot be that hard to discover what the problem is.

The suggestion to use the VBS script to reset the licenses also fails now that it is installed. It fails with this message: CScript Error: Execution of the Windows Script Host failed. (Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.)

I have never seen this message from cscript before. I have used vbscript for many years and this is new. What would cause this?

What can block access to the account so that activation fails?

When activating Office 2013 the error is: "Sorry we can't connect to your account. Please try again." This is from a local message box and not from the product or web “pretty” messages.

I am still waiting for tech support and my guess is that they are waiting on your investigations as it is clear they don’t have a clue as to how to proceed.

Understand that I am not complaining but I would like Microsoft support to see that this is more than a trivial issue. It likely has a very simple cause but we need to stop trying the old fixes which fix installation and usage issues and, primarily, are targeted at sign-on issues. We can sign-on and use the product. We can just not activate it.

You can contact me and I will be happy to get anyone a webex to the client machine to see what I am talking about. The previous techs abandoned the issue quickly because they could see it was out of their scope of knowledge.

I believe there is one simple issue that may be related to transport but cannot get anyone to discuss the difference in activation transport and sign-on transport. Both have to use HTTPS. Why would one fail and the other not. Is it possible that a server that handles the activation is unavailable due to ISP routing issues? Can we find this server URL and try and ping it.

When using autodiscover against Office365 in Outlook 2010 i get an error message stating that Outlook cannot connect to the exchange server and that outlook has to be in online mode.

Please see the problem below. It inserts =SMTP: for some reason which seems to be the problem.

I have applied outlook2010-kb2597011-fullfile-x86-glb as the KB says for this problem but with no luck.
