Hi,

We deployed Office Pro Plus , however there seems to be a problem with the activation with all users.

The error thats shows is that an "Internet Connection is Required" as we are behind a proxy we have checked that

443 and 80 are open and are working correctly.

Using the BITS Admin and setting the proxy on a Windows XP solves the problem however it seems the BITS Admin is not supported on Windows 7 where most of our users work from.

The BITS Admin in the Windows shell does not have the cmdlet for the proxy.

Any ideas how to overcome this?

Regards,

Kyriacos

  • Hi Kyriacos,

At this point, you can run osaui.exe to activate Office Professional Plus. The detailed steps have been provided as below:

    1. Click Start, in the search field, type cmd, and then press ENTER.
    2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\OFFICE14\osaui.exe" /F

    3. When you are prompted, enter the user ID to activate Office Professional Plus.

    Thanks,
    Mindy Pan

  • Hi Kyriacos,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

The error message "Internet Connection is Required" can be caused if Office Professional Plus for Office 365 services cannot connect to the Internet. Now, I suggest you continue to troubleshoot this issue referring to the following article:

  • Hi Mindy,

This article points out to use the BITS Admin software,  as mentioned in the first post BITS Admin does not work on Windows 7, this article has already been worked through.

What is the supported method for Windows 7? It seems the article doent take into consideration when using BITS Admin for Windows 7 which in our case all the users are working with.

  • Hi Kyriacos,

Thank you a lot for your prompt reply.

I understand that we cannot run Bitsadmin on Windows 7 to resolve this Office activation issue. At this point, I would like to confirm if the Office 365 Desktop Setup App has been installed properly or not. If not, I recommend running the Office 365 Desktop Setup App on the computer and run the osaui.exe again.

    Thanks,
    Mindy Pan
