In Lync , I selected the option "Default Corporate Picture" but nothing is shown yet , I think it is a synchronization issue , how can I activate it?

We are testing it on these 10 users before quitting Google Apps and rolling out to all 50+ employees (most of the 10 users are new staff for a project so were getting new PCs so made sense testing with them).

Everything is working fine, except for Lync.

Lync is operating very strangely at times - sometimes working, sometimes not. The principal problem seems to be with its connection to Exchange. So contact lists cant be changed.

When Lync is having issues it reports "Lync can't connect to Exchange. Your contacts list and conversations might have issues." however during this time conversations ARE saved, but any attempted change to contacts list results in an error message "Cannot add, remove or move contacts or groups at this time. Please try again later."

Now the strange thing is, I've had Lync running on my desktop just fine last few days (adding contacts and no connection issues reported) however at the same time my laptop wouldn't even update to the new contacts list shown on the desktop client (and Lync Contacts on People using web interface).

As I said before - Conversations are getting saved still in exchange... which indicates to me that it is managing to connect to Exchange servers.

Further Info to help:

Office 365 isnt linked to any on-site exchange servers - I do not have SSO or even DirSync setup.

I currently have 3 domains on the account.

companyname.co.uk

companyname.com

and the onmicrosoft one setup when trial was started.

My 10 users are using companyname.com as the login to office 365 services, however in exchange I have comanyname.co.uk set as the default reply address.

This is because this is the normal corporate email address and the .com has only been used by IT for testing (and has never been linked to our current google mail servers). To get their email we are currently just using forwarding on their gmail accounts. In a few months when the boss is happy we will switch everyone on bulk and change mail servers, and use comanyname.co.uk as the login (and .com will go back to IT only).

thanks

I though I'd check out Lync 2013's preview. It ran beautifully for 24 hours and now won't launch. I see the blue splash screen and immediately receive a "Microsoft Lync has stopped working" dialog.

I've tried for hours to resolve this myself using other disparate online posts, including the following:

With/without Lync 2010 installed

64/32-bit versions (reinstalling Office to match)

Removing \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 15\Lync.exe to force the Microsoft LyncEntry 2013 repair

Launching with elevated privileges/compatibility mode

Closing every other app possible (Lync.exe is locked by Skype while it's running for example)

Everything appears to come back to the following appcrash info with KERNELBASE.DLL

Instead, there are several blogs posts which describe the authentication header sequence.

http://msexchangeanywhere.wordpress.com/2011/12/29/how-to-fix-lync-services-signin-type-your-user-name-and-password-to-connect-for-retrieving-calendar-data-from-outlook/

The solution described involved changing the authentication priority on the Exchange CAS. Is that something that can be done on Office365?

Otherwise, can someone kindly provide guidance to solve this problem.
I have successfully created a new room resource (Conference Room) which is functioning fully in the O365 Outlook Web Client.

We are currently using Office 365 Enterprise E3 - we want to purchase one license for Lync Online (Plan 2) for an external user. Know we can use Lync with Skype - with additional functions coming shortly - but for this person we want to use Lync.

So I assume I can simply purchase the license - add the user (will have to use one of our domains and that's okay) and assign the license.

My question is this - looks like there is no separate Lync 2013 download - so do they have to download the entire Office 2013 suite and then only choose to install Lync? With purchasing only the Lync license will they have a problem with running Office 2013 on their computer - again only the Lync component - as they won't have an Office Professional Plus License? Hope this makes sense!

Email/ Outlook and Lync 2013 clients are working fine.

However, I have one Windows xp computer. It will not install Lync 2013 as it is not compatible, so I am trying to utilize the Lync IM that is part of Outlook Web App.

When I try to access this, by going to "Sign into IM", it tries to connect, and then comes back with an error of cannot connect to IM. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk.

I have my dns hosted through godaddy instead of allowing Microsoft to manage it, but as far I can tell I have all of the records I need. ( domain is azhearingaid.com if you want to check).

When I run the lync test at https://www.testocsconnectivity.com/ I get the following as failed:

Host name lyncdiscover.azhearingaid.com doesn't match any name found on the server certificate CN=*.online.lync.com, OU=UCG, O=Microsoft, L=Redmond, S=Washington, C=US.

I have tried with multiple usernames ( that work with the Lync client).

I have tried with xp sp3 32bit and windows 7 sp1 64bit.

I have tried with IE8, ie9 32bit and 64bit, ie 10 32bit and 64bit.

Any help would be appreciated. Please realize this is office 365 small business, and is different settings etc from office 365 enterprise plan.

We are going to allow lync communication on our firewall but our concern is that once the ports are open that a user could sign-up for another Office 365 account and communicate with external person without record of the conversation.

Can anyone assist me with locking down Lync so only @mycompany.com logins are allowed or grey out the login name after successful login? I am looking for suggestions here. We will have conversation history enabled on all conversations and force it through a registry change but if the user logins in with @ABC123.com, we would not be able to record conversations.

I appreciate any advice or suggestions. Let me know if I am missing something obvious... thank you!

Sporadic issue with a federated domain among two federated domains; IM, Presense, File Transfer

Environment: Lync 2010 EE, two FEs, two Edges with HLB

Internal user can do IM/Presense/File transfer with, say, A federated domain 100% time. But, it's getting the sporadic issue with B federated domain like 20% or less uptime a day. Symptom is very strange as follows when issue persists;

1. internal user gets toast from federated user IM, but when clicked, there is no messages in the IM window.

2. federated user can't see presense of the internal user

3. federated user sees error "This message may not have been delivered to Userxxx because there was no response from the server." on sender's party IM, but the IM messages are sometimes delivered to internal user even with the error eventually after a long delay.

4. Internal users always can see the presense of the federated user and send IM.

5. file transfer never works from neither of the sides.

When it starts working, BTW, all of the issues are magically gone and works just perfectly for up to 1 or 2 hours. And, with the other federated domain, actually MSFT is the one and works just fine day in day out.

FYI, remote access and Web/AV conferecing are all working always as expected.

Please advise if anyone has any idea.
