We use Skype. We do not want another IM client.
We paid for outlook 365. It advertises online meetings.
Can my user schedule meetiings from wihtin outlook without downloading and installing a 79mb IM client. We currently use GoToMeeting. It has a com add-in.
Do we have to reenew our subscription Go To Meeting .... or does msft support this?
You paid for Office 365, which includes Exchange Email (including Outlook Web Access), Sharepoint and Lync. With the Conferencing features yes you will need the Lync Desktop sofware to take full advantage of this, as it integrates with Outlook on your desktop. If you do not use the desktop software then you will be limited to only sending text messages via Outlook Web Access.
With the Lync software you can then either use the app to create an instant meeting or schedule future meetings with Outlook (desktop).
All over the msft sites there is an indication that there is an add-in.
JUst ot be clear, is there no feature equivalent to the Gotomeeting add-in that lets me just create a meeting without downloading another chat client - unless I am mistaken I already have 2 MSFT chat clients on my desktop: Skype and MSN .... don't realy need a 3rd
Do you mean you want to schedule an online meeting without installing any software?
If so, you can achieve it by Outlook by following steps:
2. In the meeting request, type the target email address and the subject for the meeting.
You can schedule an online meeting conveniently after running desktop setup. However, if you still don’t want to install anything, you can schedule an online meeting through Web Scheduler:
