We are moving our local mailboxes (exchange 2003) to the cloud using exchange 365 imap migration, but the syncronization are copying the public folders for all users. How can I prevent this ? Using the powershell connector as above have no effect at all:

New-MigrationBatch -Name "IMAP - user group 1" -SourceEndpoint "IMAP - costumer" -CSVData ([System.IO.File]::ReadAllBytes("C:\Users\intranetworks\Desktop\GRUPO1.csv")) -ExcludeFolders "Deleted Items","Junk Email","Public Folders"

Now questions:

a. What to do with dirsync before syncing accounts from AD?

b. There is an attribute in cloud which tells that user is synced, but can this attribute be wiped?

c. What to do with domain federation when primary adfs-server is changed?

d. is there any supported procedure for this?

, the customer is not doing an Active Directory migration. They are building new Directory. So, no attributes are being migrated. A hybrid configuration is only used for email migration and hybrid is decommissioned after that. I understand that O365 user has an attribute called immutableid, which combines O365 account to AD account. And you can turn a standard O365 user to synced user with smtp matching. I had one case with live@edu upgrade to O365, where the O365 accounts were in cloud and we set up Dir Sync, and all the existing users became federated. But In this case the immutable id is present and I don’t know can that be wiped and does the smtp matching procedure kick in if we are able to wipe the immutable id. Do you have any comment about this?

I have posted a couple times with no luck.

I get the attached error on only two of the 15 PC's we are doing the exchange cut over on.

The set up goes smoothly and asks me to restart outlook for the exchange account to work.

When I do that, Outlook starts up and asks me for the password. I put the password in and it rejects it. However, this only happens on these two computers. If I try set the account up on my computer, it works fine.

They are using Windows 7 and have Office 2010.

I have tried creating different profiles and resetting passwords etc... nothing has worked.

Could you possibly remote into the PC in order to help?

2 - I would then sync active directory with Exchange online as it was before, for example: When i change password for user in active directory should reflect in online Exchange automatically , and also when i created a new user in active directory then should create mail box for him automatically in Exchange Online

We currently have Exchange 2007 SP3 running in our system with three CAS/HT servers. For the Hybrid deployment, we plan to deploy two Exchange 2010 HT/CAS servers. From what I have read so far, as soon as the new Exchange 2010 CAS servers are brought up, the OWA clients, autodiscover, ActiveSync will all point to the new Exchange 2010 CAS array.

My question is how can we setup the Exchange 2010 servers making sure that they do not point to the new CAS array immediately? We want to perform the cutover from 2007 to Exchange 2010 CAS array during a short maintenance window just in case there is any disruption in service. We are NOT moving mailboxes from 2007 to 2010. They will be migrated directly from 2007 to O365. I want to setup the Exchange servers with SP3 and all updates and keep them ready so the only thing we have to perform at the cutover time is a DNS change and some other minor changes. Already have the new cert ready with legacy.domain.com as a SAN.

Will appreciate details on this. Thanks

Installation of 365

What an awful experience.

AT 3pm yesterday afternoon I made the mistake of signing up for Office 365 small business premium, since then I have had no mail, not office programs, my domains have been taken over and I have no idea where the mail is going.

1) The local install of programs does not work, I have now uninstalled and re-installed 3 times and they STILL don't work. After 3 hours on the phone with a Microsoft Engineer (I hestitate to use that word he hardly knew his way arund my computer and did not know the difference between 32 bit and 64 bit installations) I have NOTHING. Nothing works, I am on my ELEVENTH re-boot.

In the end he told me "he was not authorised to support me anymore"

2) My "Account" tells me I do not hyave access to email, so click on Outlook on the dashboard and all I get is there is no mail authorised for this account, so I have no access to mail, Outlook does not work, online mail does not work.

Please jsut tell me how do I get this heap of POO off my computer and get back to work, and then I will worry about getting my domains back, getting my money back, and then thinking about suing Microsoft for the days that I am going to lose in signing up for their crud.

And no you cannot contact me by email, YOU'VE STOLEN IT. I don't have any email anymore.

I work for a non-profit organisation in Denmark. The organisation help street children getting of the streets and helps them breaking their social inheritance.

My question is when will it be possible to setup an Office 365 solution for an NGO in Honduras?

We have a partner in Honduras that we would like to get over on this solution but currently, but we are not able to do this at the moment. I can create them with another country but then we'll not be able to get approved for NGO benefits in that country.

Please help :-)

Users' Options At First Login to Office 365

I am going live this Friday with Office 365 E-1 for our non-profit organization. As several of my users are easily confused by technology, I'm attempting to anticipate problems, especially immediately after first Portal log-in.

Migration parameters:

This is a manual migration of 7 users and 8 generic addresses (info@) from a third-party POP e-mail server to a private domain of the same name at O365. So, johndoe@domain.com on a the POP mail server elsewhere is migrating to johndoe@domain.com at O365.

The domain is verified in O365, and users are being duplicated on O365.

My primary users have a variety of operating systems and e-mail clients.

I'm holding off on Lync, but users will have access to Exchange, SharePoint, & Web Apps.

I know that all users will have immediate access to the O365 Portal & Webmail.

I also assume that all users have the option of using Web Access only, without setting up O365 on their desktops/laptops. Correct?

Question on setting up mail forwarding in O365: Is there any advantage or disadvantage to setting up forwarding on a O365 account by the Global Site Admin as opposed to the user setting it up?

The primary question for each user below is:

Given each user's current e-mail set-up & software, what are the options for setting up their current desktop software (automatic or manual?), and what issues/problems might I encounter?

User #1

Has been using Office for Mac with Outlook 2011 set up for this same user/domain that is now migrating to O365.

Will O365 automatically prompt her to set up her Mac Outlook 2011 with an Exchange account for her O365 account, or does she have to trigger the process once at the Portal?

Will her previous e-mails be preserved in Outlook 2011?

User #2

Same as user #1, but is using Mac Mail, OSx 10.8.

Same questions as to automatic or manual e-mail configuration, as well as preservation of e-mails that came in from the pre-O365 POP mail server. I'm assuming and hoping that the old POP mail e-mails will be preserved in the Mac Mail.

User #3

This user forwards all of her e-mail from this domain, and others, to another non-O365 address and manages her mail with Thunderbird Mail.

For the short term, I plan on instructing this user to continue the forwarding from this domain on O365 to her Thunderbird Mail address.

Alternatively, she could manually set up Thunderbird mail with O365 account settings, correct?

User #4

This user will be accessing O365 with Outlook 2007.

User #5

Unfortunately, this user will be accessing O365 with Outlook 2003.

After Portal log-in, I'm assuming a manual set-up of Outlook 2003 will be possible using O365 server settings.

I'm also assuming very limited O365 functionality via Outlook 2003, but typical functionality via Web access.

Thanks for any comments or suggestions that you can provide.

Selling Office 365 to our clients as a MS Partner?

This may sound strange, but we aren't exactly sure how to get the ball rolling on this.

1. DNS, If I change the DNS and autodiscover dns enteries, will this kill the sync migration using autodiscover in a cutover for current autodiscover.domain.com?

We are getting ready to move all users to exchange online, but with the 24hr, once a day sync, my concern is if I change the dns to send mail to new location, will it kill the sync so that the email that has came in between sync and dns be lost? how is this accomplished?

2. In testing email setup in outlook on phone using autodiscover.outlook.com with user\pass, the email config doesn't connect. Is this normal behavior? Does exchange online not allow client connectivity until the dns records are changed and exchange online is receiving email other than sync?

3. Is there a way to customize a login page for end users to show company name vs. office 365?

4. We have deleted an email account, changed the email address of said accounts and attempted to set them up as alias's on another account. it will not allow this? The account that was deleted has a different email address now, but it still will not allow this to be setup as an alias. Is this because the sync is running still and the completion of the migration has not yet been completed?

I work for a small construction firm in the North of England. Currently are using 3G dongles to access the web. This is also an MPLS solution however generally we find the speed accessing files on our server to be very slow and the 3G dongles themselves are unreliable in terms of connection and installation.

We therefore are opting to bring Office 365 into the equation. We will be ordering 32 E1 licences to integrate our email, file etc into one place where both site agents and office agents work from the same page so to speak.

We operate between 5-15 construction sites at any one time whcih can be in the middle of nowhere or in a city so 3G coverage is a huge issue. If we cannot have reliable internet connections to uplaod/download data to/from office 365 then its a pointless venture.

I have been testing a new dongle from 3network business side called Shebang. I have ran a few tests on my local Liverpool & Manchester servers and the results are quite disappointing. Download is averaging 0.6mb/s and upload 1.3mb/s. These results were taken from our main office in the city centre also where reception is good so I anticipate speeds to drop in other areas.

So my question is, 'is my speeds enough to manage emails and SharePoint interaction, especially for remote users'.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Change address "Directory Synchronization Error Report" is delivered to

Hi

They also wanted Office 365. Initially I configured Exchange Online (the $4/month plan) which would have been fine, but they also wanted the Office Web Apps. I had to start over with the Small Business plan ($5/month). I should have said no, just get Office 2010 for your PCs. How are these users supposed to work with Word docs on their shared drives from Web Apps? There's no way their thousands of company files (~60 GB worth) are going to sync to the cloud, especially over a T1.

Seems like you either 1. Keep doing things the old way (local mapped drives on server, office on the desktop, email via Exchange or O365) OR 2. Move all Office files to the cloud and use Web Apps. I don't see how you can combine the two. What am I missing?

Help with Send/Receive connectors for O365 with Exchange 2007/2010

Question:

We are in the final stages of configuring at test lab for O365. Our environment consists of:

Exchange 2007 (on premises) which contains all of our production mailboxes

Newly introduced Exchange 2010SP3 Hybrid server

Office 365 tenant

Ironport Email gateway appliance

We are finding little to no information on how the send/receive connectors should be configured to get mail from 2007 to 2010 to O365, as well as in the opposite direction.

I saw a posting from Lester Zhang that stated:

To route the mails (sent from Exchange 2007 to Office 365) to
Exchange 2010 hybrid server, you can create a send connector on Exchange 2007
server, select internal, add the SMTP address space which represets your cloud
domain, (for Exchange 2010 SP1, it should be servcie.domain.com, for using
I even tried disabling the identity using powershell to no avail.

We are a Microsoft Partner. We are using Office365 to run our business. As a partner we are expected to sell Office365 as part of our agreement with Microsoft. How can we expect to sell this product to our valued customers when the technical support service takes so long for a seemingly simple issue?

Does anyone have any insight on how to get prompt support?

This is very discouraging. It seems to me that the simple deletion of two duplicate email accounts should be as simple as a couple mouse clicks or a few keystrokes. This issue has been going on for 6 days now. We have two sales individuals who cannot use email. No one, that I see, has even identified the problem. All I see is that it has been forwarded to a “higher level team”.

we are planning to use the hybrid config wizard with exchange server 2010 sp3 hybrid server. we need clarity on following

how will the Hybrid server with Hub transport server impact the current routing topology ? we have typical

routing requirements. we do not have a edge server, but email gateways across two locations talking to HT servers, ( that are in a different domain in different subnet) that further talk to exchange HT servers and mailbox servers and CAS in different domains and subnets.

which subnet should the Hybrid server be deployed in our case ?

there are policies at gateway level and also at Organizational config level, we need all emails to flow trough our on premise deployment

Quick response is appriciated

Issue with mail delivery Microsoft office 365 tenant ( Mail loop)

HI,

We have issue with mail delivery to few Microsoft Cloud tenant ( Office 365). We get NDR mail loop when we try to email them from on-prem or cloud mailbox. We have no issue receiving emails from them just when we try to email them we get NDR (Mail loop).

Our configuration for mail flow to route all the traffic from the cloud ( our tenant) to exchange on prem and then to the outside world. Everything is working fine. Mail from cloud and internet to our on prem is working and vise versa. Just few domains, which we have no relation/ configuration in our Org. just random clients we deal with.

I have reviewed the NDR`s and the mail flow look fine as it should be. So if I send mail from either exchange 2010 or 2003 mail box to external recipient (cloud tenant ) , the mail flow as it should be from our Org to the smart host and then to Microsoft and then Microsoft send it back to us ( our hybrid box) and this repeated for 30 times.

The issue is related to few cloud tenant and not all.

Thanks,
