Before going further, I would like to confirm if you have verified your domain in Office 365. If not, I recommend adding and verifying the domain in Office 365 first. You can refer to the following article which includes a helpful video:

After the domain is verified, you can use one of the following options to create SharePoint related DNS records.

Option 1: Redirect the Name Server records to Office 365.

In this situation, we need to change the Name Server records to ns1.bdm.microsoftonline.com and ns2.bdm.microsoftonline.com. After that, Office 365 manages and hosts all DNS records for your domain. DNS records such as CNAME record and A record for Microsoft Office 365 services will be automatically created.
Please note: When you change your domain’s NS records to point to Office 365, all of the services that are currently associated with your domain—for example email, websites, blogs, and shopping carts—are affected.

Please also change the website address referring to http://onlinehelp.microsoft.com/en-us/office365-smallbusinesses/gg549209.aspx.

Option 2: Add your domain to Office 365 without redirecting your name server records to Office 365.

In this situation, Office 365 doesn’t host the DNS records. You will need to create the required DNS records for Office 365 services at your domain registrar. For example, if you would like to use the custom domain for SharePoint Online, you will need to create an A record and a CNAME record for WWW at your domain registrar. The DNS records information can be found in DNS Manager by performing the steps below:

a. Change the website address, refer to http://onlinehelp.microsoft.com/en-us/office365-smallbusinesses/gg549209.aspx
b. In Office 365 Admin page, click Domains on the left side.
c. Select your custom domain, click Mange DNS. The DNS information such as A record and CNAME record for WWW will be shown in DNS Manager.
