We are currently testing out Office 365 but over 50% of our users in our office work on Macs.  Will they be able to use Office 365 on their systems?

  • Hello

    yes and no /D

they will be able to use Outlook 2011 for Mac or Entourage to connect to their mailboxes

they will be able to access SharePoint

but they will NOT be able to use Lync as there is only client access available (ie no Lync Web)

  • Hi KBistany,

As Benoit said, you do not need run any application to set up Mac computers for Office 365.

    • For Exchange Online, you could use Office Outlook 2011.
    • For Sharepoint Online, you could open sites with Safari 4.0.4. There is a little limitation on the features, which mainly related to sync or connect local Office to SharePoint. However, you could also download documents and edit then by Office 2011.
    • For Lync Online, the Communicator for MAC 2011 does not temporarily support Lync Online. But product team is working on this.

You could use Office 2011 to work with Office 365 better. More details are illustrated in the link.

  • Hi KBistany,

Any update for this issue? Have you set up configuration for these MAC systems?

  • We are curently evaluating Lync Online and lack of Mac support is a big issue.  We need to be able to invite guests to our meetings from outside of our company and if they have a Mac there is no way to do this.  Is there any ETA on when there will be a browser based Lync client for Mac?
