Hi,

We are on the Office 365 P1 (connectpersonnel.com.au) plan.

Several (safe to assume all) users can no longer (previously was working) send emails to a recipient at a specific domain.

One of the users in particular was previously able to send emails to the specific recipient.

Here are the NDRs (with RemovedContact replacing client contact) & time stamp of last successfully sent email:

Many users are receiving NDRs from many domains.

Can someone please assist us in this issue and potentially move my thread (above link) to the correct forum.

  • Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your post. I have checked all three NDRs you mentioned above and found that all of them the email item has been reject by different anti-virus or spam service.

I'm wondering that is there any "key" words both in these emails. For this case, you need to contact both of the email recipients to ensure they have add your domain in the safe list.

    Thanks, Neo Zhu

  • Hi Neo,

Keywords are not the issue here, I could write a 10, 200, 2000, etc word response and it would still deny the email. (I tried responding to an email with nothing but "test" and various other formats (no signature, images, hyperlinks etc)).

I can contact each domain when required; however that does not fix my problem. It temporarily resolves my issue, at best.

Why are many other domains determining my domain's emails to be spam?

Why are lots of other users reporting this exact same behaviour (it's not just us who seem affected)?

Could you please advise any diagnostic tests, reports etc to further assist in this troubleshooting. I don't consider this issue resolved in the slightest.

    Sincerely.

    Andrew Stace

  • New update:

    > Some users ability to contact clients has returned to normal (without changing anything our end or contacting them to "whitelist" us).

This makes the issue less critical, however the primary concern still exists. "Why are many other domains, "occasionally" determining my domain's emails to be spam?"

  • Hi Andrew,

I checked again your domain information and find that the domain doesn't point to Office365 namserver.  It could be related to this issue. You can take a look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2617114

I'd like you can try to switch the nameserver and point to Office365 , then try again.

    Thanks, Neo Zhu

  • Hi,

I can send emails out but can't recieve any in, does my website need to be in the search engines before I can recieve emails ? When I had the previous version of Office live before the subscription version I could send & recieve emails via hotmail has this all changed now to outlook express is this the new method of sending & recieving emails to my website ?

    Thanks

  • Hi Neo,

Thanks for replying to my issue again :). We manage our DNS through sitelutions. We have all of the required pieces of information in place (which I can message through to you if you wish to validate them) for Office 365 to work (and it has been for 99% of the time).

We won't be changing the nameservers to Office 365 for trouble shooting purposes; this would do more harm then good.

I've read several articles (including the one you linked), that mention the DNS-TXT-SPF values and how incorrect entries can potentially cause problems like the one I've mentioned. As such, I've verified the current values against the ones provided to us during the Office 365 installation and can confirm that our information is correct.

Considering that the majority of users experiencing the issue no longer appear to be affected; I will downgrade the issue on our end. I will also assume that the only "fix" is to contact the appropriate domain admins when required (to whitelist us).

However, I would like to speak to someone at Microsoft (perhaps the chaps at FOPE?) to discuss this issue and try to have a better understanding of why this issue occured in the first place. Could you please message me any relevant contact information you're aware of?

    Cheers for your assistance :).

    -Andrew

@Roderick, your question appears to be in no way related to what we're discussing here you might find it beneficial to start your own thread/question. On a side note, check your POP, IMAP (inbound) email settings.

    >"does my website need to be in search engines before I can recieved emails?": No, what you might be confused with is DNS. Yes your domain (website?) information must propogate through DNS servers (this can take 5 mins - 72 hours).

    >> the rest of your of your question: No idea what you're saying/asking. Message me if you need help writing your problem.

  • Hello Andrew,

I am glad to know that the affected users are no longer experiencing this issue. However, below i have provided you with the contact information you requested also, an article that explains more in detail Spam Filtering and how it combats against Spam and Phishing. To allow you to better understand why you might of been blacklisted from the recipient's server.
