CName Records for Custom Domains

I have a secondary domain name which was verified by Microsoft 365 a few days
ago.  When I search the internet using this secondary domain, my Microsoft 365
website does not show-up in the search listings.

The secondary domain nameservers are already updated to Microsoft 365.

How do I connect this secondary domain to my primary Microsoft 365 website
domain?  Can I set a CName record inside Microsoft 365 to point my secondary domain

to my primary domin?  Previously, Microsoft Office Live did this automatically.

Also, I spoke with Melbourne IT by telephone and since Microsoft 365 is hosting the custom domain names, the "points to" (CName Record) would have to be managed in Microsoft 365.

I am not the only person with more than 1 domain name for my business.

  • Hello Silk,

This is Jason Burnside from Microsoft Office365 SharePoint Support.

Thanks for coming to the communities with your concerns about adding a CName record to use a secondary domain.

Unfortunately, all DNS records would have to be changed at the registrar. You would add the Domain to Office 365 however all other DNS settings are set at the registrar. You may try the following setting: Points To – www.firstdomain.com however your best bet would be to host an asp.net redirect page to give a proper redirection however this is unsupported by our team.

I will continue to monitor this thread for further posts or questions.

    Thanks,
