Since last night I have been trying to tranfer information from my office live account to the new 365.  For the life of me I cannot get anything accomplished because everytime I click on "edit website" or try to create a new page, I get the error that "Internet Explorer Cannot Displacy the Webpage."  I worked on the site for about 3 hours last night and got almost nothing accomplished because I keep getting this error.  After every 15th time it will work and then I can add a little bit of information before it does the same thing again.  I have done almost everything I can think of and nothing has helped.

Any solutions, this is just crazy?

  • Hello,

This is Justin with Microsoft Online SharePoint Support.  Thanks for posting your question.

It sounds like Internet Explorer is having some issues staying connected as there have been no recent service interruptions with SharePoint Online.  The message you are receiving can unfortunately be caused by a variety of issues.  Please take a look at the help article listed below for steps to troubleshoot.  If you are still experiencing the issue, consider posting on the Internet Explorer Community for additional troubleshooting.

  • these sites are slow, someone forgot to scale. make sure you use a modern browser, but the best solution would be not to use 365 at all for your websites. you will only be frustrated and disappointed.

  • Hi Rob,

Sorry there was no immediate response to your post.  Sometimes when switching over domains it can take 24-72 hours to propagate, but this is not always the case.  If you are still having issues with the site editor please verify the Trusted and Local Intranet sites are added to IE, such as in this article for Open with Explorer issues.  Also, be sure to run the "Set up and configure your Office desktop apps" at https://portal.microsoftonline.com/download/default.aspx to ensure required updates are installed and the machine is configured to use Office 365.

    Thanks,

  • From time to time I get the same error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" this wil happen on different Win 7 systems at the same time.

The admin console portal.microsoftonline.com/.../Default.aspx and OWA can be reached without problem, but the team-site aka all sharepoint functions are "un-available".

I tried the IE settings resetting procedure.

I tried adding https://*.microsoftonline.com, https://*.outlook.com, https://*.sharepoint.com to the trusted sites.

    I tried Chrome.

    But nothing worked.

Further investigation learned that when you logout of the admin portal the following error occurred:

    Afmelden niet voltooid...

Het is niet gelukt voor deze websites:

     SharePoint Online

    Afmelden voltooien

Verwijder alle cookies uit de browser en sluit vervolgens alle browservensters.

    Translated in:

    Loging out failed.

Unsuccessfull logout for the following websites:

    To finish logging out

Delete all cookies and close and re-open all browser windows.

I deleted all informatie (incl. cookies) restarted the browser but this didn't help eather.

  • This resolved the problem eventually, for me.

    -----------------------------

Are you trying to sign out from Office 365 web services, such as Outlook Web App or SharePoint Online?

If so, this behavior can be caused because Office 365 web sessions are maintained by web browser cookies. To troubleshoot this issue, please try the following steps.

Remove microsoftonline.com entries from the Trusted sites zone and from the Local Intranet zone in Internet Explorer (IE)

    ==========================================================

    1. Open Internet Explorer, click the gear icon.

    2. Click Internet Options to open the Internet Options dialog box.

    3. Click Security tab, click Trusted Sites, click Sites. If the https://*.microsoftonline.com,https://*.outlook.com, https://*.sharepoint.com entry is shown in the Websites box, click the entry and click Remove. Click Close.

    4. Click Security tab, click Local intranet, click Sites. Click Advanced. If the https://*.microsoftonline.com, https://*.outlook.com, https://*.sharepoint.com entry is shown in the Websites box, click the entry and click Remove. Click Close.

    5. Click OK.

    6. Restart IE and check the Office 365 sign out issue.

If the issue persists, please continue to do the steps below:

    1. Open Internet Explorer, click the gear icon.

    2. Click Internet Options to open the Internet Options dialog box.

    3. On the General tab, click Delete in the Browsing history section.

    4. Make sure that the Preserve Favorites website data check box is cleared.

    5. Make sure that the Temporary Internet files, Cookies, History and Password boxes are selected.

    6. Click Delete to clear the cache.

    7. Restart Internet Explorer and check the result.

If you still cannot sign out from Office 365 properly, please continue to reset IE.

    1. Open Internet Explorer, click the gear icon.

    2. Click Internet Options to open the Internet Options dialog box.

    3. Click the Advanced tab, under Reset Internet Explorer Settings section, click Reset.

    4. Restart IE and check the issue again.
