Learn more about Office 365
Existing Microsoft Business Productivity Online Standard Suite (BPOS) customers are being transitioned by the Microsoft transition team to Microsoft Office 365. During this transition the Microsoft Transition team will move all existing BPOS SharePoint Online site collections to Office 365 per tenant. For information about how to prepare for this transition, see the Microsoft Online Services transition center. If you have already transitioned from BPOS to Office 365, see the SharePoint Online Post-Transition Guide: BPOS to Office 365.
If your BPOS SharePoint Tenant was recently transitioned to Office 365, there may be additional steps that are needed to configure your site collections. The following information may be useful if you experience any of the issues that are listed in this blog.
After your BPOS SharePoint tenant is transitioned to Office 365, users may notice in the Office 365 portal a link at the top of the navigation pane named Team Site.
The Team Site is intended for collaboration and contains no content from the BPOS transition to Office 365. Permissions are not configured on any new site collections. So, users will receive an ‘Access Denied’ error until permissions are applied to the team site by the SharePoint Tenant Administrator. To configure permissions for the Team Site, see "Access Denied" error message when you click the SharePoint Online Team Site link in the Office 365 portal’.
If your BPOS SharePoint tenant is transitioned to Office 365, users will not have access to the list of site collections that they have access to in the Office 365 portal. As a workaround, follow the guidance to configure the Search Query Web Part on the Team Site to generate the list of site collections ‘The My Company portal is not present after the transition from Business Productivity Online Suite to Office 365.’
If your BPOS SharePoint tenant is migrated to Office 365, the SharePoint Tenant Administrator may have to apply the Visual Upgrade to the interface from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010. To manage the Visual Upgrade settings, follow the guidance in the following article ‘How to run Visual Upgrade on a SharePoint site that was transitioned from Business Productivity Online Suite to Office 365.’
