Use Windows PowerShell to manage Office 365

If you’re an administrator for a large organization there are now Windows PowerShell cmdlets you can use to perform a variety of Office 365 administrative tasks. You can use Office 365 cmdlets to manage:

  • Users
  • Security groups and membership
  • Role membership
  • Domains
  • Single sign-on
  • Subscriptions and licenses
  • Company information

 

For example, you can use the Set-MsolGroup cmdlet to update the properties of a security group, or use Set-MsolUserPassword to change a user’s password. To learn more about the Office 365 cmdlets, and install them, see:

If you’re currently using Windows PowerShell, you can load the Office 365 cmdlets by typing at the Windows PowerShell prompt: import-module MSOnline
