We’ve been talking a lot about why Office 365 provides the best cloud productivity experience for customers of all sizes across the PC, phone and browser (see also previous post Office 365 across the Mac, Safari and iPhone). Office 365 was designed with today’s fast-moving mobile worker in mind, and being productive today means being able to work on the go when you are without your PC.
Email, Contacts and Calendaring with Exchange Online in Office 365
For those on the go, anytime access to their inbox, calendar, contacts and tasks is essential to staying productive. Whether it’s chugging through email during a taxi ride or fitting in yet another meeting in your schedule, squeezing the most out of every minute on the go means being better prepared, informed and on top of your inbox. Office 365 supports Active Sync, a common email protocol which allows two-way synchronization of your information across most smartphone platforms including Windows Phone, iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Nokia (Symbian). The below chart summarizes the features that are available with each.

Document Access and Collaboration with SharePoint Online in Office 365
SharePoint Online in Office 365 gives you a central place to share documents and information with colleagues and customers. Designed to work with familiar Office applications, it’s easy to save documents directly to SharePoint and work together on proposals and projects in real-time because you have access to the documents and information you need from virtually anywhere.
You can access your SharePoint Online site on a mobile device and visit your company’s team sites, document libraries and more. The sites will render on all the smartphones listed in the chart above, using a simplified text-only format. This provides the flexibility of being able to access your important information from anywhere, so that you can collaborate with colleagues, access shared documents, view updated site content, and otherwise stay connected with your work.

The next update of Windows Phone 7, named “Mango” will bring the ability to access and edit documents stored in SharePoint Online through the Office Hub. I'll be glad when Mesh (sync) returns the ability to sync with the desktop, online, and mobile phone like it could years ago with Windows Mobile.
It is nice to be able to store your documents on SharePoint and SkyDrive, but what is the point, if you don't have an internet connection. I'd like to see the option return that allows me to sync some documents with my phone.
When I make changes to documents on my phone, those changes sync automatically on SharePoint/SkyDrive and the desktop (if you have the sync software installed). I've already been in a situation where I could not use a document... not fun.
Hopefully MS will finish the job and provide full access... if not the bits and pieces will remain an expensive "try".
Heck, google can do this... although, they need help since there are reports of issues with the sync. I used Mesh sync the same way for years on my phone and never had an issue.

As this article illustrates Office 365 could be a great product, but it has two flaws that are instant turnoffs for my clients, and as a result, I can't use it. Those two turnoffs? First, my clients object to having to obtain a hotmail account in order to access the extranet I would create for them. Second, I collect, organize and share documents for my clients so they don't have to scour the internet to find them. Many if not most of those documents are pdf files. Well, O365 won't allow my clients to view those pdf files without saving them to their computers first instead of allowing them to to open in a browser window. If those two issues are fixed, the I'm a big fan of Office 365. Otherwise, meh.
If you have Mango update (version 7.5 Windows Phone) then you can find your tasks in Calendar application. You can view and manage them.
On the other hand sending SMS from OWA or Outlook is still missing even in Mango. It works great in Windows Mobile 6.5 and I hope it will be back in next update of Windows Phone.

Notice that the Wikipedia article does not include the Blackberry in its list of supported ActiveSync devices? That's because it's not supported by Activesync! You need to use a paid third party tool to facilitate the connection. Your chart needs a little revision or at least an asterisk...

Allen, I'm a developer who's trying to make a C# and Silverlight app to work with Sharepoint. I have two questions. 1) Is Sharepoint SDK required for Visual Studio to work with Sharepoint? Do you know which SDK is for Sharepoint Online? Sharepoint SDK 2010?
Now that Windows Phone 7.5 has been released, do Tasks from Office 365 now sync to the Windows Phone?
