Office 365 Public Beta is Here!

Office 365 Public Beta is Here!

|

Today, we are excited to announce that Office 365 is moving to public beta status! Last fall, we introduced Office 365 to the world, and the response was amazing. More than 100,000 organizations, big and small, signed up for to help us test-drive our latest service. Today, we make the beta available to millions more people in 38 countries and regions in 17 languages. You can secure your spot in the beta at www.office365.com, and if you have already signed up to beta test, hold tight because your invite is coming soon!

Customers are already using Office 365 and loving it in the limited beta. Check out this story for some great examples from Dallas Neurosurgical, a small medical practice, and David Kroenke, an independent textbook author. Office 365 has struck a chord with small businesses like these. In fact, more than 70% of those who signed up for the Office 365 beta were small businesses!

Announcing the ‘Ready for Work’ Contest

We’ve been so inspired by these and other stories from small businesses that today we’re launching the “Ready for Work” contest. Five small businesses will win $50,000 each and Office 365 free for a year!* Best of all, we will send one of our executives to work for you – or a charity of your choice – for a day. No task too big or small. We want you to know that we stand behind Office 365, and our team is ready to work for you.

So, go check out our Facebook page and tell us your story. We want to hear:

“What inspires you to work every day and how can Office 365 help you achieve your business vision in the next 365 days?”

Simply submitting your 365 word (or less) story enters you for a chance to win one of five Windows Phones each week. So, don’t wait. Share your story today.

    Awesome!

  • FAILURE: you can sync SharePoint Workspaces to your Windows Phone and view your docs on-the-go.

It turns out this promised feature doesn't work at all, and there isn't any indication of when or if it ever will work.  So much for MS products working nicely together.

Maybe that's why they call it a Beta, but it would be nice to know if this feature will ever work.

  • "Office 365 Public Beta is Here!" "Ready for Work"

This is IMO unacceptably slow service:

"You will receive an email invitation from us as soon as your account is ready. We anticipate that the average wait for an account is approximately 2-4 weeks during the Beta period"

Good luck with the Beta, I am still very excited about the product.

  • Congrats on the official beta launch of this service!   Many small businesses will benefit from this service!

  • Can those of us partners who have a trial of BPOS transition that account to the beta?

  •   I was reading the office 365 blog this morning and they posted this: http://community.office365

Excellent news - now if only we can get access to the BETA so that we can take it out for a spin and have a story to tell.....

    Thanks!

I click on "check availability" and nothing happens.  Using IE 7... of course, there is no support because I don't have a MS ID... don't have the ID because I can't signup.  Ummmm.... lol... I am a huge MS fan, but darn if MS can't seem to get it together in the cloud... and I am not pushing hard to use the product if the guy above is correct... and sharepoint is not there!

Why does your website promote sharepoint if it is not working?  I don't need $50,000 to lie... if sharepoint is missing, I don't see the purpose.

  • Congrats Office 365 Team!

    Awesome..!!

  • The next generation of BPOS is here. Today, we are announcing a public beta of Office 365, expanding

  • More details on the beta can be found on the Microsoft Office 365 Blog .  This is a great blog to

Okay, is there a country missing?  38 annoucned.  Only 37 in the List when you register.........is Australia missing?

  • @Meng: Thanks!

@Richard: The SharePoint workspace function work just fine with the enterprise beta, but this feature is not working with the small business beta right now. Again, it is just the ability to sync SharePoint documents to Windows Phones. We'd as for your patience as we continue to refine our beta product

@Adriaan: We are glad you are excited. We've seen so much excitement and signups during our limited beta, its only fair that they get provisioned first. Don't worry, you'll get your chance.

@Betsy: If you are only trialing BPOS, the best option would be to just sign up for the beta rather than convert your BPOS trial to full BPOS, then convert to Office 365.

    @Ed: coming soon!

@Mat: can you clarify what you are referring too? Where are you checking availability? On the beta signup? And we ABSOLUTELY have SharePoint that works fantastically. The comment above was discussing function of Windows Phone that allows you to access/edit your docs on your phone, this still being fixed.

@Andrew: You are correct in referrence to Australia, The beta is not available here at this time

When *will* Australia get access to the beta? Are we talking days, weeks or never?

    Please don't say never. I'd cry :(
